Who are our forefathers?
There are early references to Lamph names. There was a Donnell O'Lamph on the Hearth Money Roll, Co. Armagh
in 1664, and there is record (a 1754 map of the Gosford Estates at Markethill) that Hugh and John Lamph, in
partnership with Daniel Corr, leased land in Ballindarragh townland from the Gosford Estates.
We have not been able to connect to them, but there were many Lamph's in and around Markethill at
that time.
William Lamph born sometime in the mid to late 1700's in Markethill, and is listed on the rent rolls in 1814,
1816, 1818 and 1822. His son, William Jr., was born in 1806 in Markethill and is the Lamph that I can claim as my ancestor.

William Jr. must have had brothers or cousins in the area because on rent rolls and lease rolls there was a John Lamph
born aproximately 1792, a Felix Lamph born about 1794, and another John Lamph born in 1797 (who was transported to Australia
in 1820 at age 22 and from whom most of the Australian Lamph's are descended). Also listed on rent rolls with no ages mentioned
is Phelemy Lamph (1789, 1818 and 1822), James Lamph (1814,1816,1818 and 1822), Patrick Lamph (1813-1821), and the widow of
a John Lamph (1814, 1816, 1818 and 1822).
With so many Lamphs' from the same area with the same names that keep showing up on my line, I know we are related.

the possibility of identity theft, we have only gone to the third generation of William Lamphs' descendents.
