PLANTING
TREES:
Thanks to all the work that Pam Lowe did in
organizing and the work that she and her helpers did in planting the 2000 evergreen
trees that we were able to purchase at a very low cost. We worked with Morgan
Mendenhall and the DNR to plant the trees on Saturday
May 12th. Many thanks to all who helped
on this important project.
FIRE COMMITTEE:
It’s looking like we could possibly
have a dry summer this year; therefore we would like everyone to think about fire safety.
On your way up the mountain please check out Smokey
the Moose to see what the fire danger is, as we will be updating per the Forest Service recommendations. Remember to remove and clean all brush away from your fire pit. Also,
all fire pits must meet regulations per Sourdough Rules and Regulations Handbook. All
campfires must be attended and when you are ready to say good night or leave your lot, please put out with water (do not leave it smoldering) and place a qualified
lid over your pit. Keep in mind if we have a fire on the Ranch it will take many
many years for the Ranch to return to what we are used to. If we all do our part
and take extra precautions’, we will be safe and have our Ranch for many years to come.
If in your travels you happen to come across anything that looks like a possible problem, please contact a Board Member. We are looking for any interested members to volunteer to help
the Fire Committee in the event we have to evacuate. So if any of you are interested
please contact Bud Sargent @801-710-2649 or Pam Lowe 801-773-8562. We will be
holding a few fire awareness meetings this summer @ the Bowery, so please check the bulletin boards for dates and times. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
LOT
MAINTENACE FORMS:
We have new forms that will be available at the Cabin or in the Suggestion form boxes
on the Ranch. Please use these forms when you do any work in or around your site. You can turn them in at the Cabin in the suggestion box. The forms will be collect and the information turned in so that we get credit with the National Forestry
(NRCS). This includes any dead fall or weeds that you remove.
